Power of the Press Print Installation

These letterpress prints are the product of our Power of the Press program, a virtual field trip that exposes students in grades 3–12 to the history and power of the printing press as a tool for sharing knowledge.

Thanks to the support of our donor community, under-resourced schools are able to participate for free.

Participating classrooms each chose a short phrase of up to 6 words—anything from a class motto to a message of protest. MCBA Studio Technician Molly Poganski handset each message in wood type and printed an edition so that each student and teacher could have their own copy.

The resulting exhibition highlights the collective hope and determination of young community members during this time of uncertainty and change.
