Specific techniques, taught one-to-one

MCBA collaborates with teaching artists to provide professional guidance for individuals seeking specialized book arts instruction in a specific technique or for a custom project.

Tutorials may focus on a specific technique, such as hot foil stamping, making a polymer plate, or using a platen press (for those with experience letterpress printing). Custom project support in a tutorial may include building a custom box for an artist’s book or consultation with a teaching artist on a specific image-making technique.

Workshops are the best format to build foundational skills with a process that is new to you. As a result, MCBA does not schedule one-to-one tutorials for introductory-level skills. Please check out MCBA’s current workshops for opportunities to meet your learning goals before requesting a tutorial.

Pricing

$95 per hour

One hour minimum, 1/2 hr increments available

Additional $25 per hour for each additional participant

Additional supply costs may apply
