  • Minnesota Center for Book Arts 1011 South Washington Avenue #100 Minneapolis, MN, 55415 United States (map)

Thursdays: July 10, 17, 24, 31; 6–9pm CT

Get familiar with MCBA’s screen printing studio and practice the photo emulsion process, from positive creation and screen coating to exposure and reclaiming.

Each participant will complete an edition of multi-layered screen prints in this in-person workshop and come away with the confidence to work independently at MCBA's Screen Print Labs.

Create your design positives using hand-drawn artwork and/or cut paper stencils. Bring your sketches and ideas to the workshop. Final designs should fit on a letter-sized sheet of paper (maximum width 8.5 inches) and may include up to two colors.

Level: Beginner. All skill levels are welcome.
Certificate: 12 hours, Category A, B, or D; fulfills Core printing requirement

Accessibility note: This workshop takes place in MCBA’s lower level studios. Open Book’s elevator is temporarily unavailable July–August 2025 while the entire elevator system is replaced. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to the improved access, safety, and reliability a new elevator will provide.

$147 for BIPOC/Financial scholarship participants (10% discount for MCBA members) + $50 materials fee

MCBA offers two scholarship types for workshops—Financial Hardship Scholarships and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Scholarships—to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom these scholarships do not apply, register at the Adult rate and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available.

Please note: Registration closes 7/7 at midnight (CT).
