“Happy Bakery is a 52-page comic about a character who wears a smiley-face balloon head. The story unfolds how the character started wearing it, and what happens to it. 

​The book is self-published in an edition of 50; number 21-50 are bound with flat hard covers. Pages are risograph printed in cornflower and black on Mohawk Superfine Smooth, texts are typed in Quicksilver; and books are perfect-bound with Astrobrights Blast-off Blue paper.

​Happy Bakery was developed during the artist's Book Artist in Residence program at the Center for Book Arts, New York in 2023.

Kyung Eun You (she/her) is a Korean visual artist based in New York. She makes drawings, paintings, prints, artist’s books and animations. You has been awarded with Book Artists-in-Residence Program from Center for Book Arts, New York, NY (2023); NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts from New York Foundation for the Arts (2020); and Artist's Books Residency Grant from Women's Studio Workshop, Rosendale, NY (2019).

Shop Information

Hours
The Shop at MCBA is open Tuesday–Saturday 10am-5pm; Thursday 10am-7pm; Sunday 11am-3pm.

Shipping and Returns
Orders are shipped via USPS every Friday by 12pm and will arrive within 5–8 business days after processing time. Please note that all consignment work is non-refundable and retail returns are accepted within 10 days of sale. If you have any questions regarding your order, please email theshop@mnbookarts.org.

In Store Pickup
Items are available for free in-store pickup during Shop hours. When placing your order, choose “Pickup” as your order option. Please add your name and choose a planned pickup day when prompted.

Gift Certificates
Gift certificates may be applied toward in-store purchases, as well as workshops, studio rentals, and memberships. We are currently unable to apply gift certificates to online shop purchases. Please contact theshop@mnbookarts.org if you have any questions about gift certificates.
