Use this book to teach your kids their anticapitalist ABC’s! Featuring fun illustrations & amazing alliterations by Julia Epifania Basnage.

This playful take on an alphabet book is a simple, yet compelling, digestible, yet thorough, introduction to interrogating capitalism. We love how Worms Don't Work for Wages pushes against the historical tendency in western children's literature to map colonizer norms onto personified animals: from Curious George to Babar. Continuously reminding readers, of all ages, that animals do not, in fact, rely on the same capitalistic social structures.”

Julia Epifania Basnage (she/her) is a visual artist and recent graduate of Barnard College in New York City who currently works out of the California Bay Area. Her work is primarily in relief and silkscreen printmaking, or any process where she can appreciate the tactile experience of the process; carving linoleum, pulling squeegees, and cutting paper are just as beloved aspects of her art as the final product, and she believes that no level or form of art should be divorced from play.

Childish Books (Cb) seeks to collect, celebrate, and create artist books and zine projects which could be enjoyed by a 'child audience', however defined. They care about making zine culture more available to children, and making the art and ideas of children more available in zine culture. Through interviews, reviews, publishing, and gatherings, they hope to generate a deeply playful readership and community. Follow them on social media at @childish.books.
