Saturday, March 15; 10am–4pm CT
Join us for a collaborative concrete poetry and low-fi printmaking workshop in MCBA’s studios, drawing on the history of concrete poetry, the work of screenprinter and text-combiner Corita Kent, and Walt Whitman's insistence that a just society is poetry's embodiment.
No prior printing (or poetry) experience necessary. We'll gather words from our surroundings and daily lives, use these to make stencils, and then collaboratively print poems that can be installed in public places. This collaborative poem will be added to by people across the US—some prints will travel on to be layered with others' language.

MCBA offers two scholarship types for workshops—Financial Hardship Scholarships and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Scholarships—to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom these scholarships do not apply, register at the Adult rate and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available.
